This is a simple box jointed box of 1″ thick ribbon cut Sapele. It measures 6.5″ cubed with the lid making it approximately 3/4″ taller than it is wide. The interior is 4 inches deep. It isn’t sealed nor was it meant to be, though it closed fairly tight.

The item was made for a pipe tobacco smoker who spent a lot of time at sea and has a general nautical theme in his office and study, making it a perfect piece for purpose and decor.

The compass on the lid is a relief approximately 1/8th inch tall and is hand painted with metallic chipped paint. The cost of an item of this type is in the neighborhood of $45.
