Description

This guy was/is intended for the RFID Security Box face panel, but is available by itself.   It’s a custom made carving with a Cross- carved out of a solid piece of teak and given a little bit of Russian birch as matting (Russian/Baltic Birch is getting hard to come by- future efforts will likely be American Maple).

RFID Security Box covered with this panel,    It’s a custom made carving out of a solid piece of teak and given a little bit of Russian birch as matting (Russian/Baltic Birch is getting hard to come by- future efforts will likely be American Maple).

The box insets in between standard wall studs which are 16″ apart on center.  The box is 14″ wide and 12″ tall outside dimensions, and 3 1/2″ deep.  The ‘lip’ rests flush with the wall (standard/common drywall) and the union is hidden under a piece of white acrylic.

There is a magnet installed on the back panel which is strong enough to hold even a heftier sidearm, and the backing is protected with a decorative piece and medallion.

The hinges are euro style hidden allowing the panel ‘door’ to completely hide the box.  It is hidden because of this and no one will know what it is unless you show them.

Gaining entry into the box is only possible with a programmed RFID antenna/chipset.  You will receive a key fob, a credit card sized chipset, a sticker with a chipset to place on whatever object you choose, and a silicone bracelet with a chipset inside- they will all arrive programmed and ready to go.

Installing the box is straight forward and simple.  We recommend the following tools be at the ready:

  • a box cutter/ razor
  • an electric screwdriver
  • a small level
  • a pencil
  • a tape measure
  • optional but helpful: a stud finder
  • We recommend installing the panel in an interior wall.
  • We recommend you avoid any outlets, water lines, or vent pipes in the selected wall.

The installation takes but a matter of minutes and is done most efficiently in the following manner:

  1. Choose the height of the box and mark the wall with the pencil- a small dot will suffice.
  2. Use the stud finder to locate the edge of the stud at the height you selected
  3. Use the level to make a line 14″ across where the top of the box will insert into the wall.
  4. Measure from the top line 12″ down to the bottom of where the box will be installed and mark it level across the wall.
  5. Using the level, make a perpendicular line from the ends of the parallel 14″ lines ensuring they are 12″ apart- making a box.
  6. Using the level as a guide, score the wall (break the surface) along the lines drawn.
  7. In a series of cuts, run the razor across the same scored lines with even pressure and increasing depth with each pass.
  8. When you’ve neared the depth of the drywall it will be easier to press the bottom of the cut out piece inward and allowing the top piece to ‘pop’ out.  Remove the cut out piece and set it aside.
  9. Place the RFID Panel Box on a flat surface while open and insert the provided screws into their pilot holes (two on either side).
  10. Insert the RFID Panel Box into the wall in the place of the cut out piece while ensuring the lip of the box (acrylic piece) remains flush to the wall.  Hold with one hand and use the screwdriver to attach it on one side.  We recommend you only drive in one screw and NOT completely seat it.
  11. Ensure the RFID Panel Box is level and flush with the wall.
  12. Drive the second screw on the same side into the same wall stud, seating it and then seating the other.
  13. Ensure all is square and flush.
  14. Drive the screws on the other side into the studs on that side, but don’t worry too much about seating them- drive them enough the screw head is flat.  Driving too far may expose slight lack of parallel wall studs and pull the RFID Panel Box out of ‘true’/square.
  15. Ensure the RFID Chipset is NOT in the box, and close the lid carefully making sure the mechanisms are aligned and the box closes and secures with little effort.  IF IT IS UNALIGNED then it has been pulled a little out of square, and can be adjusted by tensioning or releasing the mounting screws until the ‘sweet’ spot is found.
  16. Use your chipset above the mechanism on the outside/exterior of the box. A ‘beep’ or a ‘chirp’ will be heard when it unlocks.  It will re-lock in approximately 10 seconds and you’ll hear the gears engage to be certain.
  17. Congrats.  Other than a little dust which a vacuum cleaner or broom will clean up, you now have a secured panel box properly installed.
